SCIS Ascent Fund

 

Unexpected financial hardship can arise at any point during a student's university journey. With the right support, students can continue to thrive despite temporary setbacks. The SCIS Ascent Fund provides non-tuition financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students from SCIS facing financial hardship or sudden, unforeseen financial difficulties. Acting as a vital safety net, the Fund offers timely interim support so that financial challenges do not disrupt a student's education, wellbeing, or ability to participate fully in university life.

 

Support is awarded based on demonstrated financial need and may be used to help cover essential living and academic expenses, such as daily living costs, transport, laptops, and learning materials. Assistance ranges from S$1,500 to S$5,000 in cash, depending on the student's circumstances and level of need.

Every contribution that you make is tax-deductible. Singapore individuals and corporate tax residents will enjoy 2.5 times tax deductions for approved donations to SMU made from 1 January 2016 to 31 December 2029.

Important note from IRAS: Donors are required to provide their tax reference numbers (NRIC / FIN / UEN) to SMU when they make their donations in order to be given tax deductions on the donations. If your tax reference number is provided, the deduction will be automatically included in your tax assessment. IRAS no longer accepts claims for tax deductions based on donation receipts.
